Today I’m sitting down with Jess, The Creator.
Her route into all of this is a little unusual.
She came from nursing, started writing online with a very small audience, and somehow ended up building a creator business that looks very different from where she started.
I’d been following some of what Jessica was doing for a while, and there were a few things I genuinely wanted to understand better.
Especially because she has taken an approach that goes against quite a lot of the standard advice creators hear online.
I don’t want to ruin the interesting bits here.
If you want to skip around, these are probably the sections worth jumping to.
01:11 — How Did a Nurse End Up Here?
Not exactly the standard creator origin story.
There were a few unexpected turns along the way.
03:41 — How Much Is Overthinking Actually Costing You?
At what point does “I’m just thinking it through” become another excuse not to start?
Jessica has had some experience with this one.
04:58 — What Happens When You Build Before You Have Everything Figured Out?
Sometimes the thing you end up building isn’t the thing you originally had in mind.
That can be a problem.
Or maybe not.
06:14 — Why Did She Suddenly Go Down the Stock Market Rabbit Hole?
Nursing.
Writing.
Then trading.
That jump made me curious too.
10:54 — Should You Really Run More Than One Newsletter?
The usual advice is pretty clear.
Pick one thing.
Focus.
Go deep.
Jessica has her opinions:)
12:41 — Can One Person Actually Keep 3 Newsletters Going?
This was the question I really wanted an answer to.
Because three newsletters sounds great until somebody has to actually write them.
14:31 — Okay... Which Publication Is Actually Making Money?
I had a pretty obvious guess here.
Turns out, obvious guesses aren’t always correct!
I’ll leave it there :)
There’s quite a bit more in the conversation, and I’d rather you hear Jessica explain it properly than read my watered-down version of it here.
A big thank you to Jess, The Creator for taking the time to come on the show and for being so open about what building all of this actually looks like.
This is Part 1 of our conversation, so there’s more coming.
If you know someone who keeps bouncing between ideas, overthinking what to publish, or wondering whether they really have to choose just one thing forever, feel free to send this episode their way.

Thanks for listening.
See ya in another episode,
